David
Cureton is a stringed instrument maker and artist who has
been making and repairing harps, guitars and other
stringed instruments since 1990. A graduate of the
Advanced Musical Instrument Program at Douglas College in
New Westminster, where he studied with West Coast luthier,
Michael Dunn, Cureton has been pushing the envelope of
acoustic instrument construction since 1990, using
traditional and contemporary construction techniques.
He
studied Wood Product Design, Metalsmithing and Craft
History at the Kootenay School of Art, Craft and Design in
Nelson BC. He achieved a Design award in 2000 at the Fifth
Annual Value Added Wood Conference in Golden BC.
Most
recently, he has established his studios at 1110 Barkway
Road, just east of Gravenhurst, where he pursues the
making of stringed instruments, sculpture and any other
kind of interesting project he can get his hands on. |
