Throughout the year, we host a variety of workshops that inspire and encourage people to explore their own creativity. The workshops are fun, informative and educational.

Watercolour with Wool Workshop

Cost:
Members - $45.20 ($40 + 5.20 HST). Non-Members: $50.85 ($45 + $5.85 HST). 
Material Fee: $10 payable to the instructor. 


A two-hour fun afternoon with Pam Carnochan who will provide all that you need and guide you step-by-step to create a beautiful watercolour with wool piece of art, that you get to take home. There’s no experience necessary and Pam will provide all the supplies.

Basic Colour & Beyond

Experience: Beginner  to Intermediate (although advanced would learn something)
Cost:
Members - $180.60 ($160 +$20.80 HST).  Non-Members: $209.05 ($185 + $24.05 HST). 
Material Fee: $5 payable to the instructor.

This hands on workshop is for beginning and intermediate painters working in oil or acrylic. It is intended to help students develop basic, practical colour mixing skills and to avoid the typical pitfalls of colour. In booklet form, participants will receive a twenty page “workshop summary”, including two colour charts and canvas paper on which to record their mixing exercises for future reference.

Gelli Printmaking

A two-hour fun filled workshop where students will learn about gelatin printing that is a form of monoprinting in which a gelatin slab is used as a printing plate in conjunction with acrylic paint to create images.

Encaustic Painting

Experience: Beginner to Intermediate
Cost:
Members - $79.10 ($70 + 9.10 HST). Non-Members: $96.05 ($85 + $11.05 HST). 
Material Fee:
$20 payable to the instructor.   

In this six-hour workshop, students will complete three pieces. Encaustic painting uses heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid or paste is then applied to a wood surface. Students will start with sealing the wood panels, making and colouring the encaustic medium and applying it to the wood.

Watercolour on Canvas  
Instructor: Margot Snow, B.F.A., B.Ed.
Date: Monday, August 20 - Friday, August 24

Time: 9:30am4pm
Location: The Chapel Gallery, 15 King Street, Bracebridge
Experience: Intermediate or advanced students. A basic knowledge of watercolour painting is required.
Cost: Members - $395.50 ($350 + $45.50 HST). Non-Members - $423.75 ($375 + $48.75 HST)
Material Fee: $25 payable to the instructor

Explore techniques that are best suited for painting with watercolour on canvas and discover mediums that will enhance your work. Investigate drawing, composition, colour and watercolour techniques such as negative space and glazing. Instruction will guide you from surface preparation to sealing and varnishing your finished work. If you are a tight painter ,this technique will loosen you up as you  work in a positive and encouraging environment. Beyond the creative possibilities, this technique removes the need for heavy frames, matting and glass.

The Portrait Drawing Open Studio   
Date: Every Thursday
Time: 7pm-9:30pm
Location: Bruce Tyner Gallery located at 760 Morrow Drive, Muskoka Falls, in Bracebridge.
Cost: Each evening session is $6
Material List: Students bring their own drawing materials and boards.

The Portrait Open Studio is an open studio for professional and emerging artists, students, and anyone interested in drawing the human face. The Portrait Drawing Open Studio is composed of a friendly, welcoming, and very dedicated group of creative people including professional and emerging artists, students enhancing their portfolios, and others interested in developing their abilities to see. People work independently and at their own level of experience. While no formal instruction is provided, support and encouragement is given. A variety of male and female models of different ages are booked.  Participants bring their own drawing materials.
