I'm a Parkdale, Toronto painter that specializes in abstracted urban and natural landscapes, portraits, and autobiographical interiors.
My abstracted landscapes and horizons are portrayed in my process and materials driven paintings. I combine layers of collage with acrylic and oil paint, as well as items like maps, sewing patterns, and text. I embed these personal items into the paint, and often scratch into the wet surface with charcoal. I also create snapshot paintings inspired by my neighbourhood, maps, and street signs. My portraits dissect the landscapes and stories of the face, and interior settings observe the mundane and reveal details of the occupants by the objects they choose to be surrounded by.
Painting is a way to document and celebrate my neighbourhood and outer world, as well as my inner world of stories, colour, and imagination
