Sitting by the water or spending a day in the woods helps me relax and recharge and provides me with a feeling of peacefulness and quietness. I want my artwork to instill that same sense of serenity and calm that being in nature provides. To that end, the colour palette is simplified with a monochromatic colour scheme and subtle shifts in values to keep that sense of peacefulness as well as provide perspective. The compositions are also simplified – a cross between realism and abstraction. All work is acrylic on canvas. In addition to the monochromatic colour palette, each piece includes elements that have a lace-like texture (e.g. the rocks, mountains) to give extra dimension when viewed up close.
