About
At 23, I traded in my pencil for a paintbrush for its obvious function – to express the thoughts and feelings I struggled to express in words. Communicating my emotions is a crucial yet constant struggle for me. The more I allowed the colours, textures and movement of the paint to replace the words I couldn't find, the more relief I found emotionally. My discovery of this new language created by my paintbrush was as if I was purging the negative and ugly energy I was carrying inside, and as each layer bloomed, the more beautiful, joyful and full I felt and the painting became. This process of creation was a therapeutic breakthrough for me and has provided the ability for me to not only express my emotions more fluently, but to connect more deeply with others through their shared connection to the energy that each of my original paintings carry. I had discovered that our ability to express & communicate with the world was not limited to the language and words we had been taught to use, and that process, for me, was and still is profound.
