This welcoming art program is designed to encourage creativity, connection, learning, and self-expression for seniors across Muskoka. Each session offers guided art lessons and creative activities using a variety of materials and artistic approaches to support different abilities, interests, and comfort levels.

The program will welcome up to 10 participants, with 7 spaces reserved for residents of James Street Place and 3 additional spaces available to seniors from the wider community. Seniors who do not live at James Street Place are welcome to register through this page.

Participants will explore individual projects that encourage personal expression and creative confidence, as well as collaborative group projects that build connection and community. Sessions will also include art education and conversations about the importance of creativity and lifelong learning.

The program provides a relaxed and supportive environment where participants can enjoy making art, learning new skills, and connecting with others. Opportunities for family involvement through shared artwork projects may also be included, along with music and other elements to create an engaging and enjoyable creative experience.

Provided by Muskoka Arts and Crafts 

Brynn Kirbyson is a painter, art teacher and University of Waterloo Visual Arts graduate who grew up in beautiful Muskoka. She believes art is for everyone, regardless of age, experience, or ability. As an artist and educator, Brynn creates a welcoming space where students can explore their creativity, experiment, and discover their unique artistic voice. She believes the process is more important than the final result and encourages curiosity, confidence, and the freedom to make mistakes.
