Layered in molten beeswax, ‘ Calm Place 2’ invites viewers into a sensory space where nature offers both refuge and rupture. This piece reflects the push and pull between psychological grounding and environmental instability, evoking the rhythm of emotional and ecological regulation through texture, light, and flow.
Incorporating clean wood ash, a material known to replenish calcium depleted from forest soils, this work nods to local environmental efforts led by the Friends of Muskoka Watershed Organization. Each fall and spring, clean wood ash is distributed across forested areas to help nourish maple trees and support healthy growth, offering a poetic parallel to cycles of healing and regeneration.
