Cardinal on a Leaf Tray

The red cardinal sits on a green leaf ceramic tray, ready to serve snacks and nuts. I rolled a slab of clay over a silicon leaf mould and cut out the leaf shape. I rolled up the edges to form a shallow dish. I sculpted a cardinal bird and attached it to the leaf. When it was bone-dry, I painted the bird with underglaze paint. I bisque-fired it in my electric kiln. I glazed the leaf in forest green and the bird with a clear glaze. He was then fired to a glazed serving tray.
