"Becoming The Portrait"  is a playful exploration of our exterior and interior selves as we create a mixed media self portrait. Artist Beverley Hawksley will guide participants through the process of uncovering what a piece is trying to say and allowing that to guide the composition.

MATERIALS
A canvas and basic materials for collage will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own acrylic paints and collaging materials. Participants are also asked to bring a hard copy image or a selfie on their phone to use as a self portrait reference for this workshop.

Beverley Hawksley is a contemporary Canadian multi-media artist based in Muskoka, Ontario, whose practice spans painting, 2D mixed media, sculpture, installation, poetry, and performance. A self-taught artist, she has been professionally active for over 20 years, exhibiting in solo and group gallery shows and as a long-time participant in the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. Through her work, Beverley composes enigmatic narratives that force contemplation. Her work has been commissioned for public art projects, book illustrations, and performance pieces, and is included in corporate and private collections across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
