From embellishing collars, cuffs and pockets to a full-blown statement piece on the back of a jacket, needle felting takes your clothes from off-the-rack to unique. Has your favourite piece succumbed to the ravages of time? Cover holes, tears or even stains with wool designs and give your clothes a whole better-than-new life. This workshop will cover the best fabrics to work with, how to felt onto the fabric and how to do a final wet felt for sturdiness.
MATERIALS
Needles, felting pads and wool will be provided. Bring in a garment to work on. Natural fabrics without stretch work best. Cotton, linen, denim and hemp are all great choices.
Pamela Steel is an avid needle felter who hopes to encourage people to embrace their artistic side by learning this craft. Under the name, Feltalala, Pamela offers a wide variety of felting kits, facilitated several community mural projects, including a mural of Huntsville’s main street at Nuit Blanche North, a Progress Flag at Pride, and a mural that started off floral and went every which way celebrating the summer of 2024.
