Join Sandy McLennan for a spooky, hands-on introduction to the magic of pinhole photography. In this fun three-hour workshop, you’ll create your own DIY pinhole camera and use long-exposure photography to capture mysterious Halloween “ghosts” and other eerie effects. You’ll learn the basics of pinhole photography, experiment with long exposures, and discover how movement, light, and timing can create wonderfully unexpected images. Then, step into the darkroom and develop your photographs yourself using simple grocery store ingredients .No previous photography or darkroom experience is required.
MATERIALS All materials will be provided by the Instructor.
Sandy McLennan loves wandering just outside his darkroom door (the home or portable one) with cameras and sound recorders. Processing Double 8/super 8/16mm motion pictures and pinhole-camera paper negatives reveals memory of personal and state-of-the-world emotions. He improvises with audio from shoot-location field recordings and sound associated with work/creation. He leads workshops giving the experience of slow time via analogue technology. He has exhibited motion pictures, photography, installation/performance and sound and has received grants from Canada Council for the Arts and Ontario Arts Council.
