Fairy of the Evergreens

This photograph of a ruby-throated hummingbird was taken at our cottage on Deer Lake near Sundridge, Ontario. The hummingbirds love our feeders at the cottage, and they provide some great opportunities for photography too. This was one of many females coming to feed that day. They tend to perch in our evergreens, swoop in for a drink, and head back to rest in the evergreens before zooming back in for more food - repeating this process over and over. This shot was taken just as she was about to leave her resting spot to come in for another drink.
