Hummingbird Vase

China paint is an oil-based paint that is put on a finished piece of ceramics. To fuse it to the piece, it is fired in the kiln. I turned this vase on the wheel, and when I was completely fired with clear glaze, I painted my favourite bird, a hummingbird. I added flowers, then I low-fired the vase in the kiln. Hummingbirds look like fragile birds, but they are strong. Flowers are fragile, and this vase is strong, like the tiny hummingbird.
