My Echoes in Time painting is a tribute to Papa who passed away when I was young. During his battle with cancer, my mom and I moved into his home to care for him and my Oma who was living with Alzheimer's disease. My Omas illness took away her ability to speak and move on her own. Due to this, I grew a close and stronger connection with my Papa. I have many meaningful memories with my papa but this specific one is one of the last that I have. The one that stays most vivid and clear in my mind. Whenever I think of him, I always imagine him making me my favourite snack and then cuddling together on the beat up leather couch in the living room while watching Judge Judy. That was his favourite show. When my Papa's hospital bed became a part of our living room, we didn’t let it steal our tradition. In this piece, we are laying together in the hospital bed. We covered it with blankets to make it more comfortable and most likely still watching Judge Judy. This memory is one of my favourite memories and I painted with the thought that viewers will find a sense of comfort and will be reminded of someone they have loved and lost. Even when time moves forward, our memories will echo in time, staying with us forever.
