Portrait of a Curious Kit

This photograph of a young red fox was taken just outside of their den in late spring. I was lucky enough to encounter a den with several very curious kits. I sat several feet away from the den for a few evenings, waiting for the kits to emerge and allowing them to become comfortable with my presence. They emerged from the den and started exploring their surroundings. This little one was particularly curious and came right up to me to say hi.
