This artwork symbolizes the growth I have experienced since I was a child. In my life I have had the privilege of traveling to many places and I have seen the ocean on numerous occasions. I have a distinct memory of walking by the ocean in Nova Scotia when I was a young kid, I remember the sense of peace and clarity looking at the ocean gave me. I thought it would be interesting to add my current self into that memory to represent the sense of growth, peace and accomplishment I have experienced since then. I want viewers to feel a sense of calm and nostalgia when they look at this painting, almost as if they are experiencing the memory not simply looking at a painting.
