Built up layers of medium gel, sculpting unique and strange textures, painted my layers, and then added in the subject matter. I wanted the piece to feel airy and captivating with its strange textures highlighted by acrylics.

The crows and ravens give a very auspicious feeling to the piece, like they are greeting the woman in the woods. Maybe they have always been there for her—I’m not entirely sure. All I know is that they seem enchanted by her, or her by them?. Are they one and the same? Are these spirit guides?

It is said that ravens and crows recognize people and can judge character just by their actions. Having them near her suggests she is in alignment and has a strong, radiant soul—that even creatures can tell a good apple from a bad.
