Artist Bio
Raised in Toronto, Ontario & having a cottage in Muskoka, I have always been
captivated by the regions stunning natural beauty. With a background in Architecture
and Interior Design, I bring foundational drawing skills and design principles into my
creative practice. Years of education and practice in Watercolour and Drawing underpin
my refined techniques. These experiences collectively enrich my artwork, infusing each
piece with a blend of inventiveness and meticulous craftsmanship. Hiking and being on
the water observing the natural beauty of Southern Ontario continues to be my primary
source of inspiration, driving me to reflect its unique landscapes through my art.
I have active memberships with Artist Network, (Toronto), AOTC (Arts on the Credit)
and (MA&C) Muskoka Arts and Crafts. I participate in many art shows in Toronto and
Muskoka.
Artist Statement
As an artist inspired by the dynamic landscapes of Southern Ontario, I create mixed
media works that capture the regions diverse topography. My art journey spans
breathtaking vistas of the Niagara Escarpment to the rugged beauty of the Canadian
Shield in Muskoka. Subjects like skies, trees, vibrant fall colours, and water reflections
ignite my creativity invoking resonance with viewers, eliciting memories and emotions.
My creative process incorporates Watercolour/Ink Intense Pencils, Acrylic Ink, and Pen
& Ink, adding intricate details, contours, and textures. Charcoal on canvas allows me to
explore subtle to dramatic values within the landscape, creating a calming atmosphere.
An Air Brush aids in crafting variegated skies and underpainting colours, enhancing
efficiency. Meticulous use of precise ratios for Acrylic Ink mixing, combined with Pen &
Ink work, adds depth and vibrancy to my landscapes. The distinctive approach of
executing charcoal landscapes on canvas instead of traditional paper further sets my
work apart.
